Abstract

RESIDUALS DETERMINATION OF ORGANOCHLORINE PESTICIDES IN WILD VERTEBRATES OF FLUVIAL LITORAL, ARGENTINA.- Concentrations of the organochlorine pesticide were analyzed in fat of amphibians, snakes, birds, and mammals. The specimens were collected from intensively agricultural regions of the Entre Ríos and Santa Fe provinces (Argentina) in 2002-2003. Residues of the organochlorine pesticides chlordane (a + d), endosulfan (a + b), heptachlor, heptachlorepoxide, aldrin and dieldrin were found in the fat samples. Some of them were not in quantified concentrations to be under the limit of detection of the method. The levels of detected residuals do not reach concentrations associated to rapid decreases of wild animals. Nevertheless, we suggest that studies of the affected populations should be continued.
